Meeting:  The meeting will be hosted by Bill W3XO. We will have lunch at the Chili Red restaurant somewhere around 11:30 to 12:00 Noon and try to start the meeting at 1:00 PM.
DIRECTIONS:
From San Antonio:
S1. Take I-10 WEST to second Kerrville exit, 505.
S2. Exit at Exit 505. The exit ramp does a 180, so you turn LEFT at blinking red light to go NORTH on Rt. 783 toward Harper.
S3. Go 4 miles on 783.
S4. As you enter Gillespie County, you will go up a long hill. Toward the top of the hill you will see abt a 200 foot tower. In front of the tower is the Chili Red (Formerly the Trading Post or Roadkill) on the RIGHT. That 's where we're having lunch.
S5. After lunch, follow the guy in front of you to the W3XO/5 QTH, providing he/she knows where he/she is going. If in doubt, follow directions D1 thru D15 below.
From Austin:
A1. Take 290 west to Fredericksburg.
A2. In the center of Fredericksburg, take Rt. 16 SOUTH.
A3. Go about 20 miles to the edge of Kerrville (intersection of Rt. 16 and I-10).
A4. Take I-10 abt 3 miles WEST to Exit 505.
A5. Follow S2 thru S4 above.
For those wishing to by-pass lunch: Directions to meeting site at the W3XO/5 QTH):
Follow appropriate directions above until you see tower and Chili Red restaurant.
D1. Just before the restaurant, is the Tierra Linda Ranch front gate on the RIGHT.
D2. Turn in gate. You are now on Oak Alley, the main road thru the Ranch.
D3. Stay on Oak Alley until instructed otherwise. There's a fork soon after you enter Ranch. Take the LEFT fork to stay on Oak Alley.
D4. Proceed on Oak Alley past fire house and north end of airport (three cattle guards).
D5. You will go down a hill past the airport, toward a lake.
D6. Oak Alley turns a sharp left to avoid drivers from getting wet and cars from getting stuck.
D7. After this left, there is another fork.
D8. Keep straight at this fork, NOT left.
D9. At the top of a short hill, the road turns a sharp RIGHT and crosses a dam between the two lakes. Watch for any traffic on the other side that you can see and wait for it to cross the dam and pass you before proceeding.
D10. Cross the dam and turn RIGHT off Oak Alley onto Indian Creek Loop.
D11. You are now just 1.054 miles from you destination, the W3XO/5 QTH.
D12.. You will go up a hill on Indian Creek Loop. At the top, the road bears LEFT.
D13. Do that, bear LEFT that is. You will cross another cattle guard.
D14. As you near the W3XO/5 QTH, you will see a tower and antennas ahead and will climb a steep hill.
D15. The road turns right at the top of the hill and you are there!!
Notes:
1. The address: 1054 Indian Creek Loop, hence the 1.054 miles from the point where you left Oak Alley.
2. Home phone: 830-896-0336.
3. Cell phone: 830-377-1054. Does 1054 sound familiar?
4. When not at lunch, someone will be monitoring 144.200.
5. If I could find my handi-talkiie, I'd monitor 146.98 tone 162.2 Kerrville repeater. But, so far, it hasn't revealed itself.
6. For those who think they know the back way from Fredericksburg, you're on your own.
7. Combination to the Tierra Linda back gate is your birth year. (Very secure indeed)
Looking forward to seeing as many of you who can make it.
